Key Verses: “The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” – Proverbs 4:18

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” – Psalm 119:105

If you’ve ever struggled with trying to crack open your Bible and find it difficult to get in God’s Word every day, trust me, you are not alone in this. There are many Christians (including myself) who have this problem on many days.

I found a cool trick though that might help with that, and it all starts with how you think about God’s word. With the help of the Holy Spirit, this revelation came to me recently while (funny enough) I was at the beach.

Think of God’s Word (aka the Bible/Scriptures) as water, and every day you wake up, it’s a new race that you are running. Some days may be a 5K run and same be a marathon.

However, regardless of how long the race us, you need water to sustain you. If the race is longer and harder, you’ll need more water throughout the race.

Let Jesus and the Word of God be the water you need to sustain you. In John 4:14, Jesus is talking to the Samaritan woman at the wall when he says “But whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never be thirsty again.” On days that may seem harder than others, instead of going to the things of this world to bring you comfort, let the promises of God heal your heart. Let Jesus fill you with His presence so that when you run the longest of races you ever have in your life, you can rest knowing that the Living Water will carry you through it.
