What I’m about to say is something that took me a while to understand, but I was finally able to come to terms with it and it has really helped me grow in walk with Jesus.

Here’s what it is:

We always think that when we are close to God, we are going to feel it in our hearts. We think we are going to feel His love and we will in our hearts feel that He is there.

And when we don’t feel that way, we think we are distant from Him, or even He is distant from us.

I’m here to tell you: that’s not always the case.

In 2 Corinthians 5:7, Paul tells us “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” We are also told in the book of Jeremiah that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”

You’re not always going to feel God in your heart. In fact, I feel very strong in my walk with Jesus right now, yet, I have moments where I don’t feel close to Him.

But I feel Him in the way that I’m slowly changing my thoughts and habits and lifestyle to fit His calling. The feeling of His presence won’t always be there, but the sanctification process is one that you can feel yourself going through. And that is evidence enough that God is with you. Romans 12:2 tells us “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

So each day, when you wake up, remember that God is with you and dwells inside of you, and is slowly perfecting you to be more and more like Christ every single day through the Holy Spirit.

I hope this is encouraging for you if you don’t feel close to God right now. I know that for me, even though I don’t “feel” God on my heart, I can feel the ways He is changing me.

God bless, and I hope you enjoyed! Comment below if this helped you today.
