Overview:
Hacienda Real: Where Mexican Cuisine Comes to Life
With locations in Geneva, Yorkville, Vernon Hills, and Bolingbrook, Hacienda Real is your “journey into Authentic Mexican cuisines”. The Geneva location, sitting right along Randall Road, is a staple of the well-known Geneva Commons Shopping Center, sitting right in the common area where many events are hosted monthly.
When you go, don’t just expect high-quality food: they also take pride in creating warm and relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in.
Let’s hear more about my experience eating at Hacienda Real in Geneva!
My Experience:

One Friday night, my wife and I were coming home late one night and realized we were hungry, and, with us both having a taste for Mexican food, realized Hacienda Real was open and were eager to go in and eat. I had been wanting to come here for SO LONG, but never found the opportunity to do so. Thankfully, we finally made the trip here.
From the moment you walk in, you can feel the welcoming environment, as we were greeted with big smiles and an eagerness to serve us even at 9:00 at night. We had told our waitress that we had just gotten back from our honeymoon, and she could not be more excited for us. Props to our waitress, she really set the tone for the night.
We immediately got served chips and salsa once we sat down (I am a sucker for chips and salsa), and one look at the menu and I already picked out three things I wanted. Everything sounded incredible. Our waitress then informed us of one of their seasonal items…a berry guacamole with strawberries and blueberries mixed into the avocado. I was WAYYYY too intrigued to not try it.
In case any of you had any doubts about whether or not these flavors work well together, I’m here to tell you right now – they 100000% do. We were in shock, we could not believe how good it tasted.
Next came our main dishes. Off of their favorites menu, I ordered the “Burrito Macho”, which is a “traditional toasty burrito made with your choice of protein, rice black beans, cheese and pico de gallo all inside a flour tortilla. Served with fries, guacamole and queso dip.” My wife had ordered the three taco dinner, with the meat consisting of Arrachera (grilled steak), Al pastor, and Camarón (grilled shrimp).
Oh my goodness, the flavors of each of these were incredible! The burrito was grilled to perfection, and the flavors complimented each other perfectly. I felt like each bite I had to add a different side to it just to experience every flavor combination possible. I even added the berry guacamole on it, and trust me, it was amazing.
I was also able to try each of the tacos that my wife had, and those were REALLY good! I don’t even like shrimp, and I felt like I could eat the entire thing of that one. I am a sucker for a good taco, so next time I go back (and I WILL be going back), I will for sure order some of these.
Overall, this place was one of my favorite places I have eaten at so far. From the atmosphere to the delicious food, I want to thank Hacienda Real for making our date night a night that we won’t forget (and we will for sure go back to Hacienda Real for another one).
