Overview:

When driving on Adams St in the Metropolitan area of downtown Peoria, there are two of the largest buildings in the city: the OSF headquarters and the Caterpillar offices. Sitting right on the corner of both of those is a little restaurant known as “Great Harvest Bread Co.”. With three locations total throughout the Peoria area, this place offers guests with a delightful assortment of baked goods, healthy sandwiches, and other breakfast and lunch items at an affordable price.

With seating of both tables and booths, the restaurant combines both up-scale and comfort to the experience of the customer. Because this particular location is attached to the OSF headquarters, there are many healthcare professionals that take their lunch break here.

My Experience:

After a few failed attempts of trying different bakeries in the Peoria area, only for them to be closed, we finally landed on Great Harvest Bread Co. When I heard the name, I was expecting for there to be more pastries and dessert type foods, but I was surprisingly wrong, and in a good way. The menu consisted of mostly sandwiches of many different varieties, some that span across both breakfast and lunch time and I there were so many delicious options it was hard to choose. I ended up choosing a Spicy Breakfast Sandwich, which consisted of eggs, spinach, ham added on, cheese, and chipotle mayo, and my girlfriend got a turkey bacon pesto sandwich, which had turkey bacon, cheese, veggies, and pesto. We also ended up sharing a drink, which was a peach green tea lemonade.

From the first bite of my sandwich, I was fully invested. I couldn’t put it down, and I knew that this was going to be gone quickly. The flavors of my sandwich mixed so well with the chipotle mayo, and it had that little extra kick that I didn’t even know it needed. You can choose the bread, and I ended up getting mine on multi-grain, and it paired SO well with the contents of the sandwich. The best part of the meal though was the drink. I can confidently say that I have never had a drink this refreshing before in my life. It quenched every part of my thirst while satisfying my tastebuds in every possible. When I finished it, I was so close to going back and buying another one because of how good it was.

Overall, this place is great and it has a very relaxing atmosphere to it. The food is good and fairly unique, and I would highly recommend this place to somebody who is looking for a nice place to go to for lunch.
